Privacy Policy
Northwoods Ventures LLC · Effective September 29, 2026
This policy explains what BillAverage, a service of Northwoods Ventures LLC, collects when you use our website, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. The short version: you can use every page without telling us who you are.
1. What we collect
- No accounts or contact details. The site has no sign-up, and none of its pages ask for your name, email address, or phone number.
- Choices you submit. When you pick a state and home type, or enter a zip code, to find your bill or price, the site uses them only to open the right page. Zip codes are looked up in your browser where possible, and we don't store them or link them to you.
- Technical data. Like any website, our hosting provider receives your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you request, and the page that referred you, and keeps them in short-lived server logs used to run and secure the site.
- Usage data. Google Analytics and Vercel Web Analytics record how the site is used: pages viewed, how you arrived, device and browser type, and approximate location. Google Analytics also records a few actions, such as which state you pick in the bill lookup (never your zip code). See section 4.
2. How we use it
- To deliver pages to you.
- To keep the site secure, prevent abuse, diagnose problems, and understand overall traffic.
- To comply with law.
3. Who we share it with
- Service providers that run the site on our behalf: Vercel (hosting and website analytics) and Google Analytics (website analytics). They may process data only to provide their service to us.
- Legal and safety. When required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of anyone.
- Business transfers. If Northwoods Ventures LLC is acquired or merges, information may transfer to the successor under this policy.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
4. Cookies and analytics
Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use the site, so we can improve it. It uses first-party cookies and collects your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you visit, how you arrived, and your approximate location. Google processes this data for us. We have turned off Google signals and ad personalization, so it isn't used to build advertising profiles, and we don't send Google your name, email address, or anything you type. To learn how Google uses this data, see How Google uses information from sites that use its services. To opt out, install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Vercel Web Analytics. We also count page views with Vercel Web Analytics, from our hosting provider. It doesn't use cookies and doesn't store your IP address. It tells visits apart with a code made from each request, which is discarded after 24 hours, and gives us only totals: pages viewed, the site that referred you, device, operating system and browser type, and approximate location. See Vercel's Web Analytics privacy page.
There are no advertising tags on the site. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; every page still works. If we add advertising, we will update this policy first and describe it here.
5. Other websites
Our pages link to government sources such as the U.S. Energy Information Administration and to other sites. What happens on those sites is governed by their own privacy policies.
6. How long we keep it
Server logs are kept for a short period, generally no more than 30 days, unless we need them longer to investigate abuse or as the law requires.
7. Your choices and rights
To ask what we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted, email support@billaverage.com and we will respond within 45 days. Residents of states with consumer privacy laws, including Connecticut, California, Colorado, and Virginia, may exercise their rights under those laws the same way. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
8. Security
Pages are served over HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee against every breach.
9. Children
BillAverage is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe we have, email us and we will delete it.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date appears at the top. See also our Terms of Service.
